VE Day

Our school marked VE Day by wearing red, white and blue and attending a special assembly. We talked about war time, we thought about the people involved and talked about why it’s important to remember. We heard Sir Winston Churchill’s famous speech and listened to Dame Vera Lynn singing to the troops in a video from 1943. Everyone also took part in a one minute silence across school.

Our pupils have been taking part in projects at home to build a display in our learning corridor. The children have made items, shared family memories and we've been lucky enough to have been brought some family treasures such as medals, photographs and flags from the war. Many families attended special VE events across the weekend on Thursday.

It has been so wonderful to see our communities coming together in shared moments of celebration and reflection.

We will remember them.
