Our Curious Kingfishers in Year 1 certainly lived up to their name in and out of class this week! The highlight of the week was the class trip to Greenside Farm where everyone met Farmer Charlie. He and Debbie, thheir guide from the Country Trust, taught the children all about tractors and horsepower - they even became horses to pull their own loads!

Year 1 deepened their knowledge on topics they have already covered in science about trees and the environment. The class were all thrilled to plant their very own tree! Pupils explored a large forest, made bug and small creature hotels for the autumn and winter, and had a go at worm charming.

Everyone had a fun-filled day of learning and curious questions, and the behaviour of our Kingfishers was outstanding. We are very proud of them!

As well as this exciting adventure, Year 1 studied the upcoming festival of Diwali and had a go at making Diwali lamps from salt dough.

The Kingfishers have had a wonderful half term settling into Year 1 and tackling learning challenges. Mrs Bennett has been so impressed with their ‘can do’ attitude and with the progress they are making both academically and personally. Keep up the great work!
